OEM spoiler bolt size?

I ordered an IOM convertible spoiler from SLP's eBay store to put on my coupe which currently doesn't have one. It didn't come with a template, but I'm pretty comfortable using the holes underneath as a guide. It also didnt come with any nuts, so does anyone know what the size of the nuts are? Thanks and I hope to have pics as soon as the install is finished.

Stock coupe spoiler studs and nuts are M6. Don't think vert is any different, but you should check and see.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm assuming it was a take off, but it's in perfect shape. I wanted to avoid taking the whole thing into a store and trying different nuts so I bought the M6 nuts at lunch and will see if they fit tonight. I'm looking forward to putting it on, so I'm hoping the weather this weekend cooperates. I'll measure and mark everything out more patiently than I usually do things, but after drilling the first hole, I heard they get easier. Thanks again!

BEN.....once you got it all situated and test fit and you like it.....the very last thing you need to do is to use 242 (BLUE) Locktite on the Studs/Nuts. When our cars first came out, the factory didn't put any thread locker on them at all and a lot, and I mean a LOT of peoples spoilers started comming lose, and some of the nuts would fall off and its a REAL BIT*H to get the lose nut back out of the trunk lid.....and it will rattle around....SO GM put out a TSB and the factory started putting thread locker on all the spoilers. SO, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, and once your ready to lock it down.....put some 242 Locktite on the studs/nuts so the nuts won't vibrate lose. IF by chance you ever need or have to take it off, you can, the 242 is a low adhesion thread locker, and although it will keep those small nuts/bolts from backing off, its still easy enough to remove them.

Great tip! I was wondering if there was any other part to the install since it didn't come with instructions or anything. Thanks!

the ONLY thing I can think of is, would be to ensure you put some type of sealant (SILICONE RTV) around the holes, on the top side, before you install it for the last time. this way it will totally seal your trunk and can't get any leaks from the spoiler studs.

What color is your car? You may be able to find someone with a factory lip spoiler that wants a different one that will swap deck lids with you so they don't have to drill and repaint their existing deck lid.
It will save you a ton of guess work and $$$ if you screwed up.

All I know is that 1/4 spoiler plugs were too small.

Yeah, I was lucky it looks so good. I wrapped it up good and put it back in the box until I'm ready for the install since I know I'd end up scratching it myself doing something stupid. I think I have everything I need so I'm looking forward to getting to it this weekend.

Well, I had a free hour at lunch today and was able to get the spoiler on with no problem. I was going to make a template out of cardboard but figured I was going to drill from the inside out so I didn't use one. I measured the studs and then the spots inside the decklid and everything lined up perfectly. I used the center punch, touch up paint, silicone and locktite so I think it should be there for good. The only harrowing part was how to start threading the two nuts towards the middle since the spaces they go in don't have much room. I ended up using long needle nose pliers and got like two threads on before tightening them down the rest of the way. I love how it looks so now I just need to take a pic and post it here. Thanks again for all the pointers.
