Exclamation Kooks Drone!!

I have a full Kooks exhaust system and it drones pretty bad at around 1800-2100! Its really bad!! Has anyone installed J-pipes on their KOOKS system? If so please let me know your results and could I please get your J-pipe dimensions!!

Here are the J-pipe lengths needed to cancel out drone at certain RPMs

Do you have long-tube headers as well? I have the Kooks complete setup and there is noticeable drone from 1500-2000 RPM. Worst in 6th gear under moderate throttle. I added FatMat to the trunk floor and it helped. Now I either crack the windows an inch when driving around town or downshift to push the RPMs up over 2000 going up hills.

what do you mean "in and out?" I'm guessing you have the Solo J-pipes, the ones that are adjustable? You probably just need to adjust the pipes and tighten the clamps

Thanks for the input, do you have pictures of you adjustable pipes? Where did you mount them? I am not a fan of j pipes that are mounted close to the mufflers. Thanks!

I imagine this is set up for your car and exhaust, as every car has a different exhaust system that gives out different frequencies.

The adjustable pipes sounds like the way to go. The adjustable ones are called Solo J pipes?

Yes they are j pipes made from solo performance. And there cat back the muffler is in the center of the car so no mufflers in the back. Here is a pic. An u can't see them from behind u have to be kneeling down looking for them. My car is lowered also.

I actually just changed axle back mufflers due to drone...I researched and went through the whole idea of welding on a helmholtz or J tube from solo, the problem I encountered was that I was either going to have to accept a mild to stainless weld senario (which will corrode and rust) or find someone that tig welds thin metal stainless to stainless (which is hard to find). In the end I took off my SLP loudmouth II system which sounded awesome but droned badly when the engine was loaded from 1500-2000 RPMS. My wife didn't even want to ride in the car. I installed the Dynomax VT axleback system last night and even with Cam, LT Headers and 3" Catted mid pipes it now like near-stock inside with the windows up while riding with zero drone. It sounds good on the outside and you hear it whe you crack it the throttle open. I wish I would have taken video before and after while riding inside. It's an amazing difference...I'm just not sure I like not hearing the "good" growl anymore inside the cabin. I'll post a spereate thread on this in a few days with some video and talk more about the installation, fit and finish.
