Clearance Issues ?

I have a plan to move the OEM rear 20 x 9s with 275s to the front and have the front 20 x 8s widened to 11" and mount those to the rear with 305s or 315s. Will I have any clearance issues front or rear running stock hieght ?

no....none what so ever......there are a lot of us that are running the stock REARS (20 x 9's) with 275/40's on the front.....even having lowered the car with springs the standard 1".

oh and BTW.......CONGRATS on the new ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks for the info !! .. I have read that a spacer may be needed for this swap ? Also,.When I send the 8" wheels out to be widened to 11" is there a backspace dimension I should ask for ?

as far as running the REARS on the Front.....you will NOT need a spacer. I have that combo on the front now for nearly a year....no issues at all.

as far as widening your fronts. you need to try to get a hold of one of that guys that has actually done that already and they can clue you in about the backspacing/offset you would need.

although he has aftermarket wheels send FEN a PM.....he is running 11.5" wheels and a 1.5" drop. I"m sure he can stear you in the right direction.

I don't know about not needing a spacer when moving the 9" rears up front. I just did it and the tire is a little too close to the strut than I like.

it may be close, but it doesn't rub, on stock struts there is about 3/8" clearance......which is plenty of room. there are some of us that have been running that combo for more than a year with no issues at all. Some of us are even lowered.

Since you guys have actually been down this road, who can I trust to widen my wheels without weakening them?

I used WeldCraft to widen a rear set from 9 - 10.5". Could not be more happy, they did a great job.

The weird thing is on the drivers side I do have the 3/8" like you said but on the passenger side its much closer. I need to find out if there's a better strut than the oem that will create more clearance with the tires and provide better performance.
