Exclamation CamShaft Help PLEASE!!!

So I'm still debating on weather I should get a cam or not. I have a CAI and a full cat-back system and so far that's the only done to it. (other than cosmetics)
So my main thing is really,

- What is the good for having a cam and what is the bad?

- Is it worth it?

- Will the sound of my car change drastically because of the mods i already have?

- Will the horsepower gain be 40+?

ALL FEEDBACK GIVEN IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!!

Yes to all your concerns, but don't forget about a stall to go with it. Also use the search function there is already alot of info on what you are looking for. Basically it all comes down to what you want.

It's worth it but I personally love the sound of a cam. And yes you'd gain anywhere from 40 to possibly 80rwhp.

the best part of a cam is the sound and power. yes 40HP+ gains are possible. the only bad thing is that you are going major engine mods. so to me you only want a good shop to do all engine work. even if you need a repair it needs to go to shop. not your local Chevy dealer. one thing also to say the more power you want out of your cam the worse the driveability will be

but other wise the car gets louder overall. also you think your car is a head turner now. wait tell you put in a cam.

If all you have so far is a CAI and cat back I would suggest doing headers before going into the motor.

I notice you did not say you have long tube headers. You will need those before a cam. Then you need a tune. Keep all this in mind, that one thing begets another. So, now you are looking at cam, headers (+ springs and pushrods), possibly a timng chain, stall and tune. If I were you and a novice to all this, start with headers and a tune and see what that does for you. These cars (both L99 and LS3) respond well to boltons.

+2 get lt first or if you have the cash get lt plus cam kit. Be looking at about 3000 for parts 600 for tune and install anywhere between 1000 and 2000
