2011 Question
How many of you that bought 2011 Verts were disappointed how quickly the 12's came out? I bought a 2010 Coupe and almost two years later in April 2011 traded it in for a 2011 Vert. At the time the dealers said the 12's would not come out for another year, yet they came out a few months later, killing the value of the 11's.

The one thing i like about the 2011's is the steering wheel, it says Camaro on it and it looks close to the concept car one. The 2012's got a generic one that has been shared with other models. its one item that will stand out for that model year and was one reason why i wanted a 2011 and not the 2012, especially in the convertible model.

If you bought this car concerned about its resale value, you bought it for the wrong reason.
Besides, the limited production period (about 5 months) means they're more unique over time.

I like the steering wheel on my 2011 vert and makes the camaro somewhat unique.I am not a fan of the generic steering wheel. The camaros are holding their value well so I think it comes down to the best deal you can make on whichever trim level on a particular model year. Also don't forget 2011 was the 1st year for the verts. My vert is cyber grey metallic, which is a discontinued colour so between the colour being discontinued and having a 1st year vert, that is why I bought mine and I am enjoying the permagrin especially when the top is down!!! |

Mitchw, from what i understand for us in long term value it is best to have either the first model year run or the last model year run of a car.
Our 2011's in a convertible may give us good value in 10 or 20 years from a collectors point being a first run year. We still might have some growing pains with it as you can see in the forum section here but because of some unique features like the steering wheel that could make it a selling point in the future. For me I do long term ownership so the drop is not a big deal, if anything my car will stay in the family, my sister is in line for it next.

Ya me too. I was told my car was a rare find, but thats just a salesman talking...would really love to know. Why was the production time so short. Im guessing the 2012 vert took over?

from my understanding, the delay in the release of the convertibles was due to the original top manufacturer going bankrupt and GM has to scramble around for a second supplier. |

If it wasn't for the 45th, I'd rather have a 2011. I like the sterring wheel and gages better. For me it was a 50/50 but I got a great deal on the 45th when I bought it back in November

Minus the top issues; I'm very glad I got the 11 when it first came out... it gave me about 6-8 months of an extremely rare car... and although mine will never be in the "collector" class; I'm glad I've got a first year from a SHORT model run... not to mention that steering wheel issue...

I don't care at all about the short production run on the 11's I wanted to have one as soon as they were available and I got one of the early production ones. It was nice last spring and summer when I had one of the few in my area got a lot of extra attention.
