Another (Probably) Blown Speaker Question
I've read through most of the blown posts. I'm just looking for some "what would you do?" help.
So... I'm cruising down the road listening to some pop type music my daughter downloaded to my iPhone. I'm thinking to myself, I don't know why everyone complains about the BA system. It sounds decent to me. I have the volume at about 15 (of a possible 45) and all of a sudden the driver door speakers stops producing sound. I mess with the fade and balance and far front left comes out of the dash speaker only. I then notice something else. Putting to rear only, there is no bass. The only bass was being produced from the front speakers. I guess it had always been this way. When playing my iPhone I am set to +1 treble, -2 mid, and 6 bass. I NEVER play it over 20 because it hurts my ears due to some hearing damage. You think the cones are blown? I'm sure it would be covered under warranty as the car is only a year old with 4K miles on it but my issue is that I don't want anyone touching my car. I do all the work on it. I really didn't want to mess with the audio now. I am focusing on other aspects of the car. Plus I just finished a major audio upgrade in my Ram a year ago so I'm not feeling it when thinking about doing another right now. What would you do? Bring to the dealer? You think the amp is bad? Should I just replace the speakers myself? Thanks! |

I have a 2010 Camaro w/ the BA system and the same thing happened to me. I thought I blew a speaker but for some reason it only did it on one specific song. I don't know if the bass in the song was really high or if it was just the right frequency to get the speaker to rattle.
Try it again but play a different song and see if it does it again. Russ |

If your car is under warranty they will replace the speaker. I had my door speakers blow 3 times in my Pontiac G6 and each time it was covered by warranty since the system was stock.
