New clutch?!
5700 miles and my clutch burnt out after one and only one night of letting her open up. Also I have been driving a manual for over 20 years and never burnt out a clutch so don't say I don't know how to drive. Anyone else have clutch related issues? Dealer is replacing it for free and didn't even ask one question...kinda suspicious.

No questions? That is odd.

I read in another thread they'll cover the clutch up to 12K miles under warranty.

Exclusions: Excluded from the powertrain coverage are transmission cooling lines, hoses, radiator, sensors, wiring, and electrical connectors. Also excluded are the clutch and pressure plate as well as any Transmission Control Module and/or module programming. Sounds like "tough luck" to me. Very surprised Shayne got his replaced, "no questions asked".

i think the only reasons they are doing no questions asked are:
1. he has been driving manual for over 20 years. 2. they probably saw that something wasn't installed properly when they looked at it. 3. you are not some kid who most likely has learned to drive stick recently and is getting their first stick-shift car. when we bought the mazda 3 last year and they knew i would be driving it as my first stick-shift car, they made a clear point of saying the clutch is not covered at the warranty. he looked directly at me and gave me a smirk when he said it. my point is, young dudes that are new to stick-shifts and do not necessarily know the many little "rules" are likely to ride the clutch or spin it waaay to much when starting, so they can "accelerate faster....in every single gear" |

Well, since I'm 47 and have owned several manual transmissioned cars/SUV's in the past and have never burned out a clutch yet, I guess it's time to start.
I'll work on my burn-outs this weekend. Ha ha. John B.
