Head Light Plug Question
I had a headlight keep going off ond on, and what I found was this plug appears to have a short in it. It shows thats its been hot, "melted a bit".
First question is this a GM part only?? Second the bulbs are 65W is that to high?? I should also mention that these are eagle eye lights... |

Wow, 65w? I have 35w bulbs and they are really bright. That could have done it though for sure.

Here is the numers off the light,
AU-Lite H9 12V 65W 2RY 1012 These lights were on the car when I bought it. I am not really a fan of them, but they are going to have to do for now. Should I replace the bulbs with 35V ???? Any suggestion would be great! |

The eagle eyes use H9's and H9's are set to 65w. They don't have a low/high setting, there is just a flap or something that blocks the light and is lifted when the "high beams" are turned on.
This happened to me and it was because the stock sockets from the eagle eyes have no hook or catch to secure the bulb in place so if it slips loose it causes electrical arcing and melts your plug.
