I Hope This Story Inspires You In Life Chad Jones of LSU
Two years ago, Chad Jones' life was changed forever. The former LSU defensive back, who was drafted in the third round by the New York Giants, was in a car accident where his SUV smashed into a pole, caving in the entire driver's side. Jones had to be extracted from the car because of a severely broken left leg that included injuries to the muscle, nerves and the vascular system. There was fear he wouldn't keep the leg or, at the very least, never walk again. (AP)The above video chronicles Jones' journey back from that accident. Warning: It's not pretty. The video graphically depicts his injuries and might be difficult for some to see. In the nearly seven-minute clip, Jones learns to stand, walk, run and ultimately teach himself to be a football player again. He was hoping to return to the Giants this season, but team doctors didn't think he was physically strong enough to play professional football. He continues to work and his goal is to make it to the field by 2013. Just by watching the video, it's amazing how far Jones has come from his accident in such a short amount of time. It's hard to fathom the severity of the injury because of the ease with which he does many of the football drills. It's truly a remarkable story. Jones was a two-sport athlete at LSU. He was part of the Tigers' national championship football team in 2007 and also was a reliever with the baseball team. In baseball, he was nicknamed "Dreadlocks of Doom" by teammates and LSU fans because of his wicked 90 mph fastball. He helped the Tigers win the College World Series in 2009. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers weeks after the Giants took him in the NFL draft and he decided his career aspirations revolved around football. |

Cool story...but...any story like this can be 'inspiring', but is also a testimonial of the priority athletes and celebrities take in people's lives.
This guy did nothing special. He played football and couldn't control his vehicle on railroad tracks, so he 'completely lost control' of a RANGE ROVER and paid the price...yeah it sucks for him, but my question is...how do you 'lose control' of your 4x4 SUV...on a road...where railroad tracks cross? We drive CAMAROS and aside from being a semi loud/bumpy ride, the car doesn't swerve, or suddenly turn to the right or left, or act like robin williams doing stand up...it stays straight as long as you hold the damn steering wheel... Was he drinking and driving? Was Law Enforcement bribed, tricked or lied to if they did find he was drinking? What about drugs? Both can cause you to lose control of your motor skills obviously... Quote:
If drugs/alcohol were a factor, then I say: Dumbass. Who cares. If drugs/alcohol were not a factor, then I say: I don't care. I have 3 people in my family who went through similar problems, with my sister's X actually being in Guinness World Records after he stopped to help people trapped in an upside down car, and was hit by a drunk driver and was thrown 180+ feet in the air (seriously, look it up. mcknight.) He went through rehab a lot longer than chad jones. Really what this boils down to is a famous athlete being professionally filmed with emotion-stirring music playing in the background. Yeah yeah, I get the whole 'who cares, guy went through a lot of pain and struggle and came out on top' thing. I truly get that. What I don't get is the 'priority' celebrities and athletes take in people's lives. Why isn't the video of my sister's ex who was actually stopping to help severely injured people at 2am on a dark highway and almost killed being spread virally on the internet? What about the countless other videos out there that show things that project true inspiration, or those that cause your emotional levels to fluctuate so drastically that your shocked because you haven't cried in years? not this 'i got f*cked up in an accident and went through rehab like millions of other people'..... i know this all sounds negative on what is supposed to be a 'positive' video, but I just look at things from all perspectives and sometimes you come across a lot of these 'feel-good' videos and deep down, they aren't so feel good. I'm kind of expecting to now soon see some major company or brand using him in their upcoming commercials or some shit....gotta make a profit, no matter the cost! |
