Tire Choices
Hey guys,
I need new tires really BAD right now for my SS! I know there's several choices out there. But I'm leaning towards the OEM Pirelli Pzero's or the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 and I can't decide. I'm hoping to get someone's experience at this forum with both. I know Pzero's are great tires but expensive and they wear quickly. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Hankook V12. I read online that the Hankook V12's have a quieter ride and better wet traction over the Pzero's. However, the Pzero's outperformed Hankook's on dry and all the other areas like braking, cornering, etc. Did I mention the Pirelli's are $188 more for the set. lol What does everyone think??? I appreciate the feedback!

There was a comparison of 10 or so models a few months ago in Car and Driver (I believe) and the Pzero's (as good as they are) were at the bottom of the list.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 evo 110s and they're definitely better than the Pirellis. I've run 3 track events on them and they handle very well. The only complaint I have with them is they're a bit soft feeling on turn-in when going into a corner, otherwise they grip like crazy and are holding up well as far as wear. They are indeed quieter than the Pirellis as well as being cheaper.

BF Goodrich Comp-2's. They rock. Very good in wet and dry and have a better wear rating.

They are noisy as hell. They don't grip at all and wear out very quick.

BFG's grip like a mofo, 47 F out the other morning traction control off and she just took off. No spinning. The G-Maxs would spin. The Hankooks would spin more than the G-Maxs. I know 49K miles and 5 sets of rear tires.

I agree go back to the OEM Pirellis or go with the BFG Comp 2 as best options.

Are they going to roll out more sizes in the bfg? I am a bfg fan but they don't ever seem to make my sizes.

Which Hankooks do you have? Because the experience you're describing is exactly the opposite of what I've experienced.

With the exception of one autocrosser, everybody else seems to like the Comp2's. Besides straight-line grip, have you pushed the handling in the corners? How do they feel in the corners?
