Door Ajar Chime Makes Me Nuts.

Does anyone know of any way to shut off the door ajar chime? I like to open the doors to listen to the radio when I'm drying/detailing. It eventually shuts off after like 15 minutes. By then I'm really hating it.

I know I could pull the module but I really don't want to completely disable it.

Any ideas?

You could also just put a pen in the door latch to keep it depressed.

This is exactly what I do. You just have to remember to unlatch the door before you close it because it also raises the window to "closed" position from "open door" position.

So the door switch is part of the latch? Hrm... Maybe I'll have to see about coming up with some kind of defeat switch.

How difficult are the door trim panels to remove? Back in my days turning wrenches at Chevy dealers I remember some we're very easy to remove while others were guaranteed to break retaining clips, or worse. Any specific tricks for the five gens?

It's 3 bolts and a bunch of clips. Takes all of 10 minutes

Just roll the windows down when you're drying/detailing. Or get something akin to an iHome for an iPod

I was wondering this same thing just the other day. I'll have to try the pen idea... so you just jam it into the space on the door part or the car side??

Take the keys out and push the power button on the radio. It will stay on for 10 minutes. It won't chime with the keys out.

Push it again... It never really bothered me. I bought a cheap stero at a garage sale for like 5 bucks that I put in the garage.

Just like he said, roll the windows down with the doors shut.
Or you could put the radio on really high while you're washing the car (with the windows up of course ).
