Installed my Footwell Lighting
I would like to thank Offer for selling me the yellow LED strips. I finally got to install them last week and they look great. I tapped into the dome light using a 16-14 gauge T-tap and some 18 gauge wire from Autozone. The install was very simple except it can be extremely uncomfortable working underneath the steering wheel. I would highly recommend installing these if you have an extra 20 bucks. I'm now waiting for my yellow LED board from ebay so they can match the strips. Here some pictures. Sorry for the crappy quality. Any questions?

Yellow Lighting
I know it is next to impossible to get a good pic of yellow LED lighting. In your experience though does this enhance the look of the footwells on your yellow camaro? As opposed to maybe a different color. Does it jive well or does it come out washed out or more amber?

How did you locate the Dome light wire in the harness?
Is there some sort of inductive tracer to locate the dome light wire? I was looking at these on the phastek site and the installation instructions said there were just "a couple of grey wires" Sorry if I sound like a Newbie. Thanks.

There is a harness of wires that feeds down from the Passenger side pillar. If you open the door there is a dash cover that can be taken off and that will expose the harness once you cut the factory tape. From there you will need a test light to find the correct wire since there are 3 Grey colored wires in that 1 harness. To find the correct wire you will need to turn off and on the dome light switch to find it using the test light. Other then that you can use taps to test each wire but that would take some time and taping into unnecessary wires. Other then doing that we have not found a better place to find a good power and ground that runs with the dome light. We think it is easy since you have both the power and a chassis ground right there with the dash. Hope that helps explain why we say "a couple of Grey wires". Thank you, Ricardo |
