Full carbon fiber body?

Hey guys,

for those who dont know me, I do shit that everyone says isnt doable or isnt worth it, so realisticly speaking how much weight would building the entire car with a carbon fiber body save? Any educated estimates?

Im also trying to find out how much it will cost, and it will be ALOT, but im working on something unusual in every aspect and might seriously consider this.

ideas?

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...5&postcount=62

and this is the thread.

Start at page 3 and go on. He has his car down to 2900 pounds.

However he has done so much more than just carbon fiber body.

Yeh...but it looks like his car is gutted. I assume the OP wants to keep his door panels, airbags etc all stock.

Wow I didnt expect anyone to have a full carbon body, I would like to ask the dude who made the body for him, taking into consideration that it has alot of imperfections which are fine on a purpose built race car.

My car will never ever see a track thats for sure. Im taking out the rear seats, using a lighter battery, few things here and there but I would keep all the safety features in the car, including any heat sheilding and so on.

That link sounds like a good place to start.

Thanks

if its closer to 300lbs I might seriously consider it. I know someone who does custom high-end carbon fiber parts, but its the mould that costs alot, I think it would be around $30K for the body only ama go and ask him today.
