I would like to get the 20x8.5 widened to a 20x10.5 and put the 20x9.5 in front. Is this possible?

Nice deal, and I am sure you can! If it were me I would leave them and run a 275 tire on front and a 305 on the rear. You would be fine.

Ohh I didn't know I can run a 305 on a 9.5. Yea in that case I would just leave them as well. Thanks for the heads up

Its not all that recomended but many people do it! For auto X I would not, but for a drag radial your fine. I am putting 305 nitto 555rs on my car in a few months on the stock rear 9"s. The nittos run a little small and tons of people have done it on there SRTs and SS's and loved the outcome! So with a 9.5 your fine, you might want to look at the nitto NT05 also... if the 555r runs a bit small that one might to.

What's the point of spending more money on a wider tire that's not going to improve but in fact hurt performance?

On a 9.5" wheel a proper fitting 275 tire will have just as much contact patch as a 305. The 305 is heavier, more expensive while not offering any wider contact patch to the ground. So why again?

You can always send out the wheels to weldcraft wheels and have them add some width to them. Otherwise I wouldn't run more than a 285 on a 9.5" wheel and a 255" on a 8.5" wheel.

Wrong... a 305 on a 9.5 wheel will have more contact patch then a 275. I have 295s on right now, the 295s fit my wheel perfect and definitly have more tire on the ground then the stock 275s, its night a day!!! The nitto 555r in a 305 is around the same size as a real 295 and should fit about the same! Will the contact patch be as much as a 305 on a 10.5 wheel... NO... but it is most definitly more then that little 275. People love to repeat what they hear online without ever even trying it

The 275 is on the small side for a 9" rim, my 295s look and fit WAY better! Like I said, I would not go this route with a car thats setup for tight corners, but for a drag radial its fine!

Lol, go tell that to all the tire manufacturers on the planet who seem to think differently. But what do they know? They only researched, developed and built the tire. Surely some random dude on the internet knows more than several multi-billion dollar companies just because he has experience with a few tires.

I guess... You keep your 275s and the other thousands of stupid people like me will have a wider, sticky, and better looking tire on there stock wheels If you seen my car is person it might change your mind! If I listen to every manufacturer and what they recomend I would still have a boring stock car! to each there own.
