Does the Bowtie just pop out somehow? I started to pry on it alittle and I couldnt get it to budge and don't want to break anything. Whats the trick?

If it's attached like the factory grille, you have to pry really hard.

The whole assembly is held in by two screws from the back. I assume you are trying to remove the whole thing, landing pad and all.

Will the bowtie pop out so I can just take the pad off from the front?

The chrome bowtie separates from the black bowtie back piece. Get a thin knife between the chrome and black plastic, slowly work it out. It is just pushed in with several tabs. Then once the chrome bowtie is off, you will see the screws behind it.
If the grille bars are a little fubar'd from the mounting, stick something between the bars and leave it in the sun for a while it will straighten everything back out. |

taking the bowtie off the heritage grill was a pain in the a$$ for me.
it helps to take off the metal cover that sits right where the hood latch is. you can probably reach your arm behind the grill without the cover. for me, i couldnt really get my arm behind the grill because i have large forearms. and i couldnt stick my fingers thru the grill either. in the end, i slid a flat head screw driver between the chrome emblem and plastic mount and pried it off. i worked around all 4 sides to slowly loosen each side. it probably took me 30 minutes of brute force to loosen the emblem from the plastic mount. it was a crude method but it worked. once the emblem was off, you can just unscrew the mount. |
