ZL1 with Kenne Bell supercharger????
I have an opportunity to have a Kenne Bell 2.8 supercharger installed at a reduced price. Wondering what the majority of users out there think. It will take my stock ZL1 from 465rwhp to 565rwhp @ 13lbs of boost. On race gas and 18lbs, it will make 635rwhp. This is with the engine in stock configuration, and if I ad headers and other bolt on's, it has the ability to make more.
What do you guys think, is it worth it? Oh, and the extended warranty I paid extra for, I guess I can throw it out the window!! |

The KB will be more effcient for sure. I do not know what the reliablaity of eaton vs KB is.
without a ballpark price though it is hard to comment. It is not hard to make 565whp witht the 1.9 for ~3k or so including hx upgate. You can get your extrended waranty pro-rated refund most likely. I am big on $$$$'s spent. I mean the KB price list has the tuner kit listed at 6k. for 6k I would not do it I don't think. $4500 or so I might be all over it.

I prefer the TVS over KB, but that's just my opinion.... Just not a fan of KB fit and design...

The Kenne Bell have not been that great on the gen 5 cars. Your 1.9 is awesome and extremely efficient Super Charger. It is not far at all from the bigger 2.3 on the ZR1. If the ZL1 had the same cam shaft as the ZR1 the horsepower on the Zl1 would be very close to the ZR1 with a 1.9 SC. I think ADM did the same modes to the ZR1 and ZL1 the horsepower on the ZL1 was just a tad higher and torque was a bit lower. So if you remove the your 1.9 I will purchase it from you.

If you have an auto that is in the normal range. I think the manuals are approximately 20+/- higher.

I'm starting to think that the Kenne Bell kit is not what its cracked up to be. I was told that they can make up to 750rwhp. But for 1/2 of list price, I am only getting an extra 100rwhp from stock. I'm thinking I can get that kind of power from my 1.9 blower. Charlie, what can you do for me?

A KB 2.8LC should out do a 2.3L TVS in peak HP + create less heat while doing so.
Or am I mssing something in this instance?

Just call the Guys up at Livernois and they will give you the best direction to go. I am certain it will not be the Kenne Bell for your ZL1.
