Varies on who you talk to or what you read.
For the most part, with motors now a days, simply drive it like you will in the future. No reason to baby it. The only thing I've read is to refrain from constant RPM (ie: highway cruise control) for the first 500 or so miles.

Avoid steady RPM for long periods. I don't subscribe to the "hard" break in if hard means WOT high rpm. You can seat rings without going to that extreme.
Once the car reaches operating temperature I just give heavy gas without reaching excessive rpm and let it decelerate. Do that several times. Heavy gas and acceleration/deceleration will seat the rings. |

We all have different opinions on this. Some of the 11/12 TPW group ran it hard day one. Others, like me, followed the user manual. Not past 4,000 RPM's until 1,500 miles and MAN is that a long time.
Key is to VARY your speed. Don't drive one speed long times. The engine is supposedly pre-run before you get the car but the rear-end is not. Don't granny it. Don't over rev it. You'll be good to go. |

I gave my wife some basic instructions...... Drive it "normal" (lol I know) and put at least 500 miles on it before I get home. Then as soon as I get there (April 25th) mods are being installed and it's off for a the dyno on the 29th.
After that it's free game in my book......... ![]()

I vary my RPMs...and I don't WOT power shift it until about 6-700 miles. I did this on my '12 and will do this on my '13. I do get on it though.....I definitely don't keep it under 3K RPMs and baby it.....then it will be a baby the rest of it's life.
