Starting Problem
The problem I'm having is starting after just a few miles of driving. Cold starts, no problem. Hot starts after 10 or more miles of driving, no problem. Yesterday I started the car (2SS/RS, Manual trans) for the first time that day and drove just a few miles to the gas station for a drink. I came out and cranked it up and the car sputters and spits for a few seconds then returns to a normal idle. It's done this a few times the past month since I added my CAI cold air intake. The only other mod I have is a muffler delete. Any ideas?.

Plenty of gas in the tank and I only run 93 octane. Any recommendation on injector cleaner? I've heard good stuff about BG injector cleaning service.

If the CIA has an oiled filter, I'd check the MAF sensor. If the MAF gets coated in oil, the car runs/starts like crap.

Thank you for the info sir! I'm assuming there is no way to clean the MAF due to how delicate the wire is on it?

Maybe a little carb cleaner on the MAF? Then let it sit and dry thoroughly. Might help.

Do you let the injectors prime prior to cranking it?

I'll make sure I turn the key on and let it sit for a few seconds befor cranking from now on. I'll also get a can of MAF sensor cleaner and give it a squirt. Thanks for the replies everyone!

If after cleaning the MAF sensor, and there is no change, I would try reinstalling the original intake, and see if the sputtering goes away. That might be the fastest way to help diagnose the trouble.

What intake did you put on, K&N is known for issues.

Stupid question , but did you re-install the MAF with the arrow pointing in the right direction?
