New Camaro Owner - Halo Questions

Hello everyone!

I'm a proud new owner of a 2013 Camaro 1LT LFX. I've had my car for 2 weeks and I'm already searching for ways to mod it. One of the first things I'm trying to do is get prices for what I'm looking for, but as far as Halos I've been searching the forums but I'm not 100% clear in what I need, so hopefully you guys can help clarify.

My 1LT has the fog lights, so are there any Halos available that are simply plug-and-play for a 1LT without the RS package and with fogs? I'd PREFER the halos also be the DRL as well, but it seems that may complicate things? Everything I've seen you have to splice the Halos into the parking lights somehow. I've never really done any electrical work on a car so the easier for me the better. I also don't want any part in baking the lights and putting in the halos!

From other things I've seen I guess I can get a set of RS halos and a special wiring harness from http://www.gen5diy.com/? Still not really sure how to replace a complete harness. I'm sure I'm making it more complicated than it really is.

I'm just trying to understand my options, I apologized if there is a post I missed that already has all this info, but either way I appreciate the point in the right direction.

Thanks!

So I guess the only option is the factory headlights with a special harness? What about using the Halos as DRL, would I have the Halos and fogs on as DRLs at the same time? Anyone know?

Correct.

To use your halos as your DRLs you would need one of Gen5 DIY's halo harnesses.

Cool thanks, do you know if I'd need a special harness since I have the fogs? I don't think the walkthrough I found had the fog lights.

Since you are non-RS, you could run the halos from the DRL circuit.

On non-RS cars the turn signals act as your DRLs.

Actually, the headlights are your DRL's.

Well I mean the turn signal is part of the headlight so you so have me there.

The actual headlight comes on at a lower, average voltage level (PWM).

Could have sworn that was for the parking lights and the DRLs were the inner "amber" turn signals.

Huh, the more you know I guess.

If you wired them into your parking lights, the halos will only come on when you put on your turn signal ^^

I tested it with the halos I hooked up for the heck of it. There should be 3 wires, one ground, one for the headlights, and one for the turn signal.

The RS only has turn signals. The non-RS adds parking/running lights.

Both style headlights have two connectors, one for low/high beam/[halo] and the other for turn/[park].
