Cork/polymer brake pads

Been watching the Tour de France. I noticed they are using cork/polymer brake pads as in the past if you used, for example, carbon fiber wheels with carbon fiber brakes pads, the break pads whould overheat, melt, and rider meets asphalt.Then they used carbon fiber pads on aluminum wheels and the fiber pads would shave bits of metal off the wheels.
Here's the question. If you use carbon fiber pads on your Camaro do you face that issue?
