System or Performance
I have 2-Alpine Type R 12's, an amp, and a wiring kit, sitting in a box from my previous vehicle. The box I want is from ******** for around $245.00 plus $65.00 for the harness.
On the other hand a cold air intake is $265.00 on amazon and a muffler delete is $80.00 at my local muffler shop. So if you have both of these, I'm asking which one of these would you have done first? Of course this is after I get it back from the dealership it is currently getting a new rear end. Yes, a new rear end and it's a 2013 2SS/RS with 4,100 miles on it. |

Um, the speaker upgrade is nice, but what kind of cai are you getting for $265? If you are looking at K&N, IMO, there are a lot better choices out there for a little bit more money.

I'm a performance dude first. I bought the car because it's fast, not for it's stereo system...although the system is nice, so it's a bonus. I have to go with performance mods first.

I like listening to my radio, but I haven't touched my sound system in 3 years. Everytime I think about doing so, I realize there are more important mods I want. I guess it just depends on what your preference and priorities are. Not sure about that Amazon CAI, I would save up for a Roto-Fab or CAI unit.

Yeah I was looking into the K&N. This is my first time back to gasoline engines in almost 8 years as I used to run diesel performance. I am usually the performance guy first and was just asking since I have all the equipment laying around. It just kind of scares me after buying a vehicle in the $40,000 dollar range, needing a rear end already. This car is a sports car that I've driven like a Cadillac all the way until the first oil change just to make sure I didn't screw anything up. Guess that didn't help either. Lol.

IMO a muffler delete isn't really a performance mod anyway, save the money from that toward real exhaust. The cold air intake is nice, and I'm in the process of working on my stereo but I already have my bolt ons. Glad I did performance first, almost wish I would have saved the stereo money towards a cam.

I don't think I'll be doing a cam or tune anytime soon as I already need heavy line work done to the car and I want to keep the warranty.

You posted this in the bolt-on section so you'll most likely get performance answers. If you post this in the stereo section, you'll get system answers. Figure out what YOU want and geterdone.

I'm leaning toward performance let's just hope the car doesn't fall apart first.

I had the K&N. I swapped it out for the ADM with scoop and went faster in worst weather. Worth the wait.
I wouldn't be concerned about the car falling apart. A few people have had issues with the rears but once they are fixed, they are good to go. |

Yeah I won't be changing the radio out I have the mylink w/navigation I would hate to get rid of that. Plus it has the Boston Acoustics system and I'm also ok with that. Ill look into these cold air intakes everyone has mentioned I just hope nothing goes wrong because knowing the dealers around here they will blame every problem they can on upgrades.
