Track day coming up... Finally!
Monday will be my first day out at the track with the 1LE. Brainerd International Raceway has a one mile long front straight and a banked first turn... so it is very fun. We run both track configurations... 3 mile in the morning and 2.5 in the afternoon. I hope to have a good handle on appropriate tire pressures by the end of the day.

I'm curious how many miles you each have on yours before you start racing?

About 1500 on mine before I hit the track.

1500 miles here too. I wanted at least 1000 before driving it hard at the track.

To sum up the first time out: WOW. This car has great manners on the track. The first session was in the rain, and I put it into Competition Mode. I was impressed with the tires, even though I don't think wet conditions are their strong suit. Had to be very careful with the throttle off of corners, but lateral grip was quite good.
Second session was a drying track, but still plenty of water. I ran a time just one second off of my best in my 2010 SS, and I knew it would be a good day. Could hit 130 mph going into turn two, even in slightly wet conditions. In the third session, it was completely dry. Got tire temps up to around 180. I felt like I could run with anybody, and was never passed (only passed once in the wet by an AWD). Best timed lap was a 147.6, which is nearly 6 seconds faster than my 2010. I did not swap my brake fluid before this, so by the end of the session I had boiled the fluid trying to chase down the schools Lambroghini Gallardo, which was out with an instructor at the wheel doing ride alongs. Overall, an amazing transformation in handling... Great Job everyone who worked on this car. Everything worked great together, including the gear ratios, which seemed perfect for the track. It made me wish it had MORE POWER. I hope to solve that soon with a cam and CAI... trying to get around 500 hp. Oh, there was a Shelby GT 500 there that I passed five times... love that fresh snake taste. |

Congrats Mark! It's good to see some hard numbers between your 2010 SS. 6 secs if a lot.
Can't wait to get my 1LE track pack on an see the difference for myself. Please posts some PHotos and Videos if you have. Mike
