How much to rebuild?

I drive a 2010 Camaro 2LT going on about a 126,000 miles at the moment. I know, a lot of miles for a generally new car. I have a very long commute, but I enjoy it. Part of the reason I got a v6 camaro was so that I could enjoy the long commute but also be able to afford gas.

Anyway I have a ton of miles on my car and its only going to go up.

Now, I love my car. I especially love the Aqua Blue Metallic color. I love to drive it and I don't want to part with it. Plus I know that that color is very hard to find. I know, however, that some day the engine will give in.

I was wondering how much the cost would be to rebuild it when the engine starts having problems. I would be happy with just replacing the engine for the same one. I would be even happier to replace it with the LFX engine since that seems to be better for tuning, but I don't know if I would have to replace other parts in order for that to work.

What would I need to do in order to keep my car going once the engine fails? Would it be more expensive than buying a new car? I know that since the actual car is generally new, the electronics shouldn't have to replaced like everything else. It's really just the engine and transmission and mechanical items that are being worn. The rest of the car, the exterior, interior, and everything else look and function like it was new/lightly used.

Also had a quick question about forced induction. I had been toying with the idea of forced induction? Would it be stupid to try it at this high mileage? Or could I supercharge/turbocharge it, take it off when I'm replacing the engine and stick it back on the new engine? Or should I wait until I get a new engine before I think about any kind of forced induction?

I have a good relationship with my car and I want to keep her running for as long as realistically possible even with how much I drive her! Any information on how much this would run me when the time comes would be greatly appreciated!

I just looked at a LLT motor that came out of a totaled 2010 Camaro. The motor had 19,000 miles on it and was listed for $2600.00.

I don't think you can drop an LFX into a '10. The computers are different and it would be a lot of work to rewire and program everything.

possible-yeah cheap-no

i wouldn't spend the money on an LLT to drop in there though, might as well try to get an LFX to work despite it being more costly, thats what i would do... ECU is better

The LLT will be about 3 grand for a motor and then you can just drop it in. Doing an LFX will be a lot more expensive as well as you being the first to ever try it so you never knowi nto what wiring nightmares you might run into

Forced induction and keeping it going for as long as possible really shouldn't be in the same thought process lol.

If you really want to keep the car for a long time. Regular maintenance will go a long way. When it gives out. Simply slap another LLT in it on the cheap.

126,000 is just broken in. Keep up the regular maintenance and it will go 3x that with ease.

3 grand for a new motor is not bad at all for me, I was worried it would be alot more. I wonder how much labor would be at a shop for that kind of work.

Does anyone know if there are any more powerful engines that could be put in a 2010 v6 that wouldn't require anything extra? I know putting in a v8 would require a new transmission and a bunch of other things, but are their other bigger more powerful v6's I could put in there that wouldn't cause much of a fuss?

Actually I was talking to a GM rep/engineer while at the fest about this very same thing. He said that they were going to look into the possibility of having a package for people to purchase that could retrofit the LFX into the 10-11 V6 cars. He was saying that they already have done it more than once since the first LFX starred its life as a LLT so it wouldn't be to difficult for a team to figure out what they used and sell it as a package.

Yea I know several people on here would. The guy I spoke to said that he talked to the one if the lead people in GM performance division and he said it sounded like a good idea.

Their idea was that you find a LFX motor on your own and they provide you with the motor mounts, computer, harnesses, etc..
