2014 RS -- High Intensity Halo's

On 2014 RS models, the Halo's are the DRLs, and they are brighter than the Halo's on the 2010 - 2013 RS models.

Do the 2014's use the same acrylic plastic halo ring with a single LED mounted on top (just much higher intensity) ?

Is it possible to upgrade a 2010 - 2013 RS model to have the higher intensity Halo's that are on the 2014 RS ?

I have a harness that turns off my DRLs during the day and I use my Halo's as my DRLs instead. I'm interested in boosting the intensity of my RS Halo's if this would be a simple DIY upgrade by purchasing the 2014 LED assembly and installing it on my 2012.

Thanks,

AGLAT

Looks like we have work to do for the 2014's. They abandoned the beautiful light pipes for a diffuser ring in front of LED's...

I did ask fbodfather about this over the weekend, and, was told that it was how they chose to make them brighter so that they could be used as DRL's.

Oh Well... So much for that idea !

Has anyone replaced the factory white LEDs with higher intensity white LEDs on the 2010 - 2013 Halo's ? I'm not interested in colored Halos, just higher intensity white.

Thanks

Hey! I know that post!

The potential problem with a higher-wattage LED is the heat sink that GM used inside the headlight. Chances are you would not want to go much higher.

What is the stock LED wattage for 10-13 year models? I think I've heard of higher wattage LED's used but not sure the exact wattage.

I don't think anyone knows for sure. I'd say about 1.5W for stock.

If I can just replace the LED bulb it'll be a ton cheaper, and I would get to do it myself which I don't mind and would rather do.
