In dash GPS/Navi
I have a 2011 SS with stock radio. What options are there out there to convert to a touch screen navi/gps that works well with all the cars functions? Kinda been toying with the idea but have no idea where to start looking.
Thanks |

There are a lot of options out there. But first thing is how are you going to get it in the dash. There are two type of kits there is a metra kit and a scosh kit that you can get from one of the venders on here or order from your local audio shop. For a head unit with nav built in I would go with a KENWOOD, ALPINE, PIONNER I would go to the web site and read up on them and see witch one is the right fit for you all of them are going to give you grate sound q just need to know where they fit in your budget

I purchased a Metra dash kit along with a Pioneer AppRadio 3 from Crutchfield. Got the Metra kit for half off with the head unit. Not a bad deal. If I'm not mistaken they even wire everything up for you so all you have to do is plug n play. Reason I went with that head unit is there's an app that allows you to mirror what's on your phone onto a couple of head units, the AppRadio being one of them. Only thing is that you have to have your phone rooted for the app. The app is ARU (AppRadio Unchained). You get everything that's on your phone, on your head unit's screen. Including Google Maps.

Is there anything kind of stereo upgrade you can do without buying one of the dash kits?

There is a new unit that is getting some more users buying it. It's from china I believe and it's a touchscreen radio bases off Android OS. The thread topic is "I found something interesting"

I seen that unit and actually sent a link to Double D who is a vendor on C5. I recommended to him to check it out and become a distributor to distribute these in the US. Last time I heard from him he said he was checking out being a distributor, maybe it will be available to us.
