I'm making the swap from M6 to 4l80 and I'm I have the link to the forum on th DIY and only problem I'm looking at is: I'm going with the full manual with a rachet shifter, and my question is how will I get the reverse lights to work and camera? Also how does the mph work? what other things do I need to know about since I'm not going auto with computer?

You could try converting the backup camera to manual with a switch. You'd probably need a harness and all the wiring and, of course, to get into the habit of flipping a switch every time you go into reverse.

Doing same thing right now. Mine doesn't have reverse camera, but my shifter has a NSS and Backup Light Switch. What shifter are you using?

Either the B&M rachet shifter or the Hurst rachet shifter

I haven't done mine yet...
I believe you could use gear selector thing that bolts on the side of the trans. It slides over the part where you hook the shifter to and it spins when you shift gears. Then just have to figure out the wiring. You will need your reverse lights and or camara power wire..hook those together and then power to the trans switch. When you shift to reverse the switch powers the lights and camara. Typed in a hurry on phone...sorry for mistakes, but this should get you thinkinh and pointed in the right direction.

It should look like this...you have to find the right one for your trans.

Thanks ya I read that the shifter comes with a reverse switch to hook up your lights! So I just have to hook up camera to that also and should be easy. I will take plenty of pics from start to finish. My trans is getting built right now, should be another week then I get to put it together!!!

What wires did you tap or run to your shifter for the reverse lights?

I'm using the P N D switch from RPM Transmission. It includes a wire pigtail with four wires. Two wires go to reverse lights and the other two go to your park to start. Installs over the shift shaft on the side of the trans. Easy install.
