Replace the plastic bushings with brass ones.

I think that's the one I got. but I figured out the ball wasn't screwed all the way down. so it dropped another half inch. just need to look at the bushings and see if that will help

The v6 manual tranny has centering springs. But I believe the ss doesn't. It's different trans all together. I think bushings are your best bet. My hurst is great !

Do a search. it's a common problem with the aftermarket Hurst shifter and there are lots of threads about it. I think Hurst may have a new and improved version of that bushing and I think here was a guy in New Hampshire who was making brass versions and selling them on the site.

Hurst has heavy duty and extreme duty versions available for upgrading now. I am currently running both in my Camaro's and they are holding up real well.
I used the bronzite ones one of the members sells here and they were awesome for feel but they transmitted vibration that at certain speed and in certain gears was really annoying.
Contact Hurst or PM me if you need the replacement bushings. I may have 1 set of the HD in stock.
