p13W bulbs from Gen5diy don't fit??
Merry Christmas!
Today, I received a set of p13w DRL bulbs (11 watt, 5000k) from gen5diy.com and I can't for the life of me get them to fit in the DRL "hole". They look the same as the old bulb (the black part), but it seems they simply don't fit in the same orientation as the old bulb. Is there something simple I'm doing wrong?? Thanks!

Did you compare them to the ones you took out? There was a change in the bulb itself,IIRC it was late 2011 early 2012.

Have you contacted Gen5diy? The bulbs changed in 2012, if it's the wrong bulbs I'm sure he will exchange them.

Verify that the rubber gasket from the old bulb is not left on the light housing. That happened to me on one of my bulbs and I could not get the new bulb into place. I noticed it when comparing the bulbs.

In late 2012 and all 2013's+ come with PSX26W bulbs instead of the 2010-early 2012 models that came with the P13W. Read the connector housing on your factory bulb. You should be able to read they bulb type on that. Or check your owners manual and it may list it in there as well.

Thanks for the advice guys! I looked closely to today and my old bulbs are imprinted with "SP13W" instead of just P13W... this is the first I've heard of an SP13w bulb. Is there a different HID bulb available in SP13W?? Or is sp13w considered to just be p13w? Or should I just try to take a dremel ever so slightly to the prongs which seems to be angled the wrong way? Thanks again!

The biggest issue is the rubber gasket on the bulb. Just take the rubber gasket off of the old bulb and put it on the new one and the bulb will slide in without an issue.

i have been having the same problem, and i don't have a dremel which doesn't help.
edit: decided to give up on them altogether. maybe someone else will have the right tools to make them work. Last edited by kiteman; 01-08-2014 at 06:19 PM. |

Thank you all for the help. After a day full of headaches and dremel-ing and a few beers I finally got my bulbs to work with the DRL harness and am very happy with the brightness and color match. Kiteman I'm sorry you were having trouble too. I just got the 5000k 11watt from gen5diy and the color match is great. Mine were a nightmare to fit (all 3 prongs needed to be adjusted to fit the housing) but I love the color match, give them a shot if you don't mind a little drill work Sent from my abacus
