Let me put it to you this way. I wouldn't be in Texas if it weren't for the job.

the heat isn't really as bad, and you'll get snow maybe every once in a good while. you will get used to the heat no problem. Plenty of good things about texas are the women, sports, lots of sports around dallas, some great clubs, whatever you want to do really. The only thing that sucks is finding new friends, but if you gotta camaro i don't think that will be a problem. good luck dude

flower mound
The only possible real benefit to move here would be someone looking for work.
Note: I heard Flower Mound is actually a very nice area to live, but I have not really seen it myself. Flower mound (to me) is considered a small suburb to raise families. when I think of flower mound, I just call it Lewisville, since that city is nearby. And when I think of Lewisville, again I think of that as another "area" to have a family or something, but I never hang out there. I never have. I don't drive anywhere near there. But I will tell you places you might want to go. you will want to travel far away from flower mound to have a good time. As you move East from flower mound, you will notice that the area becomes way, way more polished. you might consider driving to your west just to see what is there (just for reference sake). You will be living close to Lake Lewisville. There is a place on that lake called Sneaky Pete's. If it is still there, you might like hanging out there. you might meet some ladies there. folks of all ages hang there. It's a Lake bar but still, you likely will want to drive AWAY from that area completely if you are going to have a fun time on the town, so to speak. There are some kind of cool clubs located off the dallas tollway. there is one off the tollway at Arapaho that has 4 clubs inside it. It used to be called city streets, but i am sure they changed their name. you might like it. there are places like Carson's (live music), a place called Memphis (live music) in Addison. Club Che (dance club) is some kinda dance club off northwest highway which I heard was good. From where you live (flower mound), if you just go south on I-35E, then go east on 635, you will cross an invisible boundary to the nicer part of Dallas. you could go to the Galleria mall at the Dallas tollway and 635. this is a very posh mall. we have tons of very snobby-type malls (another snob mall is Northpark mall). if you want a less snobby mall, you could try grapevine mall which is kinda near you. that is a family-friendly type of mall. When you move to flower mound you will notice the highways near you might be backed up very often due to car accidents. everyone here drives way, way too fast and they tailgate. major highways are shut down every morning and evening on weekdays, especially on Fridays. Also, people drive the wrong way on the Dallas tollway often, and we have head-on collisions there but usually by drunk folks driving in the middle of the night. warning: i promise you will see people driving very fast like maniacs. You HAVE to be careful especially on I-35E or 635. I promise they are both dangerous. Overall you will probably like this area after you first explore it. if you prefer to be around very high class type people, you will know where to go. if you want to hang with more average types of folks, you'll find it. Since you are in the O.C. i would think you prefer the "upper crust" areas, and if that's the case, we have tons of that. you'll see. After you come, you should locate the Dallas tollway and perhaps drive up and down it, and you will see some very nice places, restaurants, and malls. Tollway at Beltline is a very nice area (called Addison). TONS of nice restaurants in Addison off Beltline. (plenty) there are comedy clubs. we have something called studio movie grill. you can see movies there and order food/alcohol. its a fun way to see movies. they have a website. if you plan to attend college, you have lots of choices. Denton (arts school), Arlington (engineering school). tons of community colleges all over the place. you should have zero problem finding attractive girls. they are everywhere here. Well Welcome to Texas. Like I said, I think in general, you will be able to "extract" something good about this area and make it work for your benefit. I did, and I also did not grow up here. peace out. Last edited by 2001ragtop; 08-17-2009 at 10:55 AM. |

I guess it all depends on your point of view and what you like. If you're a republican who likes guns, smart and hot women, great food, guns, cheap housing, good night life, an economy that actually functions efficiently, guns, rodeos, and just a general sense of badassery then I would have to say Texas is the place for you.
