Hey Im finally a Vert Owner!!!!!

Hey everyone, I Just picked up my 12' 2LT vert
I have a millions of questions and I cant wait to get into mods and changes.
Any advice or tips are more than appreciated

First question I do have is
Where is a great place to get the color of the seats changed ?
I see a good percent of everyone has seats to match the exterior paint job.

Also any ideas on what my first mods should be? Im more into the look than power for now.
Thank you all , cant wait to get started

Pictures coming soon

Congrats. As my salesman said when he delivered my vert, "this car will change your life!"

And indeed it has.

LOL, I'm a 'performance first' guy so won't be much help with your questions.

I haven't modded in eons so won't be any help on that front. That notwithstanding, however, there are a few things you should be aware of (if you aren't already) regarding the 5th Gen. convertible:

2011 and (generally) early 2012 MY's encounter top problems. In particular broken 5th bows, top rub marks that turn into frayed areas and then holes. Some have experiened small puncture holes from screws in the top frame.

Some owners have complained about gawd-awful wrinkles in the top. There will be some wrinkles if you have the top down often or for long periods of time. Keep an eye on that.

Water drainage bags becoming clogged or disconnected which leads to water on the front and / or rear floor boards. ALWAYS check your floor boards, trunk and seats for dampness after rain or washing.

Sometimes the rear side windows will encounter problems. Some folks have reported hearing a "grinding" noise and the dealer has replaced the motor.

"Wind noise" is to be expected but some folks have reported a lot of wind noise. I have minor noise but no water leaking in so not concerned.

A general issue for many folks is that the tonneau cover can fly off. You have a 2LT so should have come with the tonneau from the factory and, if you purchased a GM / Chevy "Certified Pre-Owned" vehicle, should come with the tonneau. Chances are the previous owner had the bolts installed but double-check that.

The electrical harness that's attached to the right inside of the trunk and lid often rubs against the rubber gasket wearing it down.

I don't think you should be experiencing any AC inssues. I believe those were primarily on 2010 and 2011 models and not too widespread, from my understanding.

You may want to ask your local GM / Chevy dealer for a printout of all services and repairs that might be in the system. At least you'll have an idea what types of repairs or services were performed at a GM dealer, if any.

Ask your local GM / Chevy dealer to provide you with a printout of the vehicle's "build sheet" so you know what options it came with from the factory.

Does your 'vert have a spare tire? Something you may want to find out now rather than later.

It's OK to drive with the top down without the tonneau cover attached. The cloth top may flutter or "dance" around and a fair number of folks are concerned that will stretch or even damage the top. Some members dislike putting the tonneau on because it's a pain or may fly off. Others always put the tonneau on. Your choice. Keep in mind that the 1LT and 1SS models didn't not come from the factory with a tonneau and could only be purchased as an add-on accessory.

BTW, the battery is in the trunk under the spare tire.

Make sure you have the Allen wrench / hex key in order to raise the top in the event the top motor doesn't work. It's a long and silver and may either be in the glove compartment or in the tonneau cover bag (at least when new) If you don't have one, check with your selling dealer to get you one.

Recalls:

There was a recall for the convertible top - not really a recall per se, but to have it inspected for any damage by an authorized GM / Chevy dealer. You may want to check with your closest GM / Chevy dealer if their service dept. will look this up for you to see if it went in for at least the top inspection.

There's the "key" recall. Plenty of threads on this in the general forum: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2

There's a "seat bolt" recall. I'm not certain whether it pertains to MY 2012. Others here will be able to shed more light on that than I can.

There are other things that other members will hopefully mention but don't let these things dissuade you from enjoying your new 'vert. It's a killer car. Driving a 5th Gen. convertible is not just driving a Camaro, it's a life-style. Welcome to the "'vert life"!

BTW, please post up some pics your new baby.

Hey Mike, Welcome to Camaro5 and Congrats on your Camaro Convt.
You can probably find some seat covers on E-bay or go to this site and custom order seatcovers that will fit your seats like factory.
