Excuse me but I'm kinda stupid. What is a catch can? I was going to go with a K&N Typhoon Cold Air kit and Magna Flow axle back exhaust but I am not sure what a catch can is.

Purpose of your Stock PCV System: The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system is designed to regulate and remove fumes from the engine crankcase, and to alleviate crankcase pressure which could cause oil leaks or seal damage. The PCV system routes crankcase fumes into the intake manifold where they can burned to eliminate harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The PCV valve controls the amount of crankcase flow volume depending on the engine's load. With large throttle openings (high engine loads), the more blow-by gases are produced, and the more the PCV system flows oil vapor in to the intake manifold. The PCV valve also functions as a check valve to prevent intake manifold flow from reversing back into the crankcase when there is a backfire, or during periods of high manifold pressure (boost) during forced induction by turbocharger or supercharger.[/B] Negative Effects of your Stock PCV System: Many Camaro V6 owners can testify to the amount of oil residue that can accumulate inside the intake manifold, throttle body, intake track and even the air filter during aggressive driving conditions. There are various negative effects when excess oil vapor contaminates the intake system from the stock PCV system - such as -
The E2 Elite Engineering PCV Oil Catch Can is designed to effectively separate oil from the crankcase vapors, thereby eliminating all negative effects of excessive intake system oil contamination. The E2 Catch Can has been engineered to remove the oil vapor before it has a chance to contaminate your intake system. Also, I would suggest the Roto-Fab or CAI system over the K&N. The K&N really doesn't seal the engine bay heat from the filter well enough. Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

Why is that all yellow? I've never seen yellow junk in my catch can.

Listen to Tyler, he really knows his stuff. My favorite mod is easily headers, though it will most likely void GMs warranty because of the tune you will need to get.
My second favorite would be my barton short throw shifter. Best bang for your buck I would say is a CAI intake, although I haven't bought a ported tb, and not even sure what an isolator is. Once you start modding and participating in these forums and even a car club, be prepared to think "I have extra money, what else could I buy for the car." Lol. Cheers!

In my honest opinion, I'd say the ICE-olator is the best bang for the buck mod you can do on the LLT. Basically, it is an insulator/spacer that keeps the heat from the engine from transferring into the aluminum intake manifold. This REALLY helps drop intake temps, resulting in cooler air entering your combustion chambers; cooler/denser air = a more violent explosion = more power. We've seen gains of about 15-22 WHP in the mid-range RPM with this mod. Part # 250-LP Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

More power boost:
Get a CAI system, there are some in the market place for sale. New are expensive (somewhat). Used are still just as good. Check this link for example. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381793 I see the person is asking $285 shipped firm. Here is another one. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=382385 Next bang for the buck is a Black Ice Olater. That too sometimes is offered in the market place. This one is sold, but so you know about them too. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381008 For sure I would get a catch can. Few good decent ones available too. RX makes a good one. Elite makes a good one too. I would recommend a top end clean-up thou since this has so many miles and does not have a catch can yet. I would recommend a dealer doing it if you have never done it before. Rodgers Chevrolet is our main sponsor and the only dealer I trust to do anything for me anymore today. I travel 60 miles one way to see them. Lots of good info about our performance stuff is one this thread. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16893 Those few items will defiantly get you started for some bang for the buck stuff.
