I found orange wire hanging behind the ash tray that is hot. There is wire going too the cig lighter that works,is this light source for the ash tray or glove box?

The ash tray had a light - best to look and see if the glove box still has one too.

If it were for the ash tray it'd only be "hot" with the dash lights on I believe. Glove box light wire would be hot all the time and when the door is opened the bulb gets grounded by the switch . Also the 67-69 Camaro glove box light kits (NOS) have orange wire so my money is on a glove box light wire. Bulb/switch assem mounts in the hole behind the upper left corner of glove box door.

My 1971 has a small snap in light for the ash tray. If I remember right it is a little square plastic thing and the light came out of the end of the wire itself. Sorry kind of hard to explain. I will stop by my car today and see if it is orange and take a pic of it. Hopefully this will help you out

Sorry, I must have been thinking of some other car. There is an orange wire behind the ash tray but it doesn't go to light like I thought. It goes towards the center of the car. I'm guessing MLL67RSSS is right, It must go to the glove box. I thought for sure there was a light for the ash tray, but I haven't used that car for a long, long time.
