XM/SIRIUS Discounts? Tips? Tricks?

I was reading in the Corvette forum..somewhere about quite a few guys allowing their satellite subscription to lapse and not renew and they were getting outrageous $70 for a year agreements for satellite.

Anyone have any thoughts, codes, ideas on how to approach? XM is awesome, but not for $399 for 3 years.

Call 'em up, tell 'em it sucks and isn't worth the money and you want to cancel. Thats what they did when I cancelled mine that I'd had for 5+ years.

Threw everything but the kitchen sink at me but I wasn't having it. Listening to 1 of 3 shitty Staind songs both on the way to and from work every day for a month was the last straw....

XM is pretty over-rated. The 80's and 90's channels are decent but they play the same songs over and over again to ad nauseum. They have a billion sports channels, comedy channels, that aren't worth it because of how long you are usually in the car and the comics aren't funny. Unless you like Elvis or Springsteen, two channels are wasted on them. Christian Rock and the Gay Channels?! WTF?! Waste of money completely. Load up an iPod or a 64GB flash drive. Now let's have some fun, although the Camaro's quirky interface and slow indexing make any flash drive over 2GB a chore. Oh well. can't have everything. I'm not giving them a freaking dime! Wonder how the Camaro would have done with the Microsoft SYNC system Ford has?

I just renewed mine last week for 77.00 plus an 11.00 royalty fee for music.
Total was like 88.00 for a year. I paid about 68.00 the prior year.

All those channels are sweet

I love listening to Howard Stern in the mornings and Jason Ellis (freaking hilarious ) in the afternoons on Faction (sirius 28)...

Faction plays some good music during the day as well

With the $77 offer if you give them a credit card # for auto-renewal next year (call at least 30 days before that date to avoid being automatically renewed at the higher annual rate) they will deduct $12.95 fron the $77 - you still pay the new Music Royalty fee.

I tried to get both my Camaro and my wife's G6 Hard Top Convertible for $77 as I had seen that work on a google search "XM discounts" but they wouldn't do it or counter offer so I cancelled both cars.

I have a Sirius Starmate 4 with a Lifetime subscription so I have that in my Camaro and if we use my wife's car for trip I have a second car kit for the Sirius. The Starmate lives in the console with its gumdrop antenna on the inside rear deck driver's side - great reception - and I was able to hid the wire.

As for listening - I too listen to 3 channels - NASCAR, CNBC and The Blend - otherwise for music its my iPhone via USB.

I did. Replace Staind with some other shitty band I hate and you get the idea of the results.

The playlists got way too repetitive after the merger killing what I really liked about the service ie you'd hear things you wouldn't hear anywhere else. I can get a repetitive playlist using my MP3 player without paying $12/month. Or even better I can get a non-repetitive list using Pandora radio through my phone for free

So I call them up and state the dealer said that I could have Sirius promo for $77 a month for 4 years?

I would have been able to get the $77 but after speaking to a supervisor at XM they wouldn't do it for me with the "best of" package which I wanted to get to have Howard Stern on. I was pissed but I ended up fighting a bit, I think I paid $160 for the year, and Ill bitch again next year at this time.
