Torque News online review of the 2015 1LE

Just read this glowing 1LE review by Torque News dot com.

http://www.torquenews.com/106/2015-c...arewell-legend

The writer claims that the NPP exhaust adds 6 HP. I remember that claim for the Vette a few years back, but have never heard that claim made for the 5th gen.

Anyway, he was quite impressed with the 1LE. It's an entertaining read.

i read the same thing as well this morning, posted the link on my FB page.

glad someone acknowledged the HP with the NPP. If memory serves me correctly, the NPP always advertised 5 HP on the vette, however i don't remember ever actually seeing a similar claim/statement for the NPP on the Camaro. Given the free-flow nature of the NPP though, it would only make sense that the Camaro would receive the same HP gains as the vette . . . an LS3 is an LS3 (for the most part), whether its in a Corvette or a Camaro

Rats! Now I have to order 432HP badges in place of my 426HP badges.

Exactly! I was surprised to read the 6HP improvement claim in the article and kind of assumed that the writer had decided to add it on his own, since the Vette had that improvement advertised a few years ago.

But, if there really were any HP improvement, why didn't Chevy push that to sell more of them?

Good article.

Although he was incorrect saying that the 1LE has the front splitter and rear spoiler from the ZL1. Interesting about the extra 6hp from the NPP. We've always assumed that but GM has never officially stated this. I imagine they are trying to protect the corvette crowd.

I do agree even though I own a ZL1. The 1LE is the best bang for the buck Camaro you can buy.

Yep, he missed a number of items. I saw that ZL1 splitter/spoiler mistake.

The writer noted the ZL1 wheels and tires but he missed that we have ZL1 front rubber all the way around and why the square set up was important for the car. He missed the specific manual trans w/ cooler and rear gears w/ upgraded half shafts. He missed the rear sway bar upgrade. No mention of the ZL1 fuel pump system.

It’s pretty common for journalists to miss things. Anyone who’s ever been involved in a “news story” and then read the article/watched the TV news story about it has said, “Wait a minute there’s a bunch of mistakes here!”

I agree with him about the interior. How many moto-journalists have complained loudly about the Camaro interior? It’s not ultra-refined. But, honestly I think it’s pretty good and have never once thought, “Gee, if only this interior was far more refined……” Different strokes, I guess.

He was pretty darned enthusiastic about the 1LE and I can’t fault him there!

There have been a couple of dyno tests on here in the past, and yes, you are looking at 6 flywheel hp.

Not much at all, considering it's not even RWHP, but like it or not, it's a "gain" .

Note: This is at stock mod hp levels, so just like when comparing header sizes, where you are really looking at only single digit, before and after hp spread at best, the real gains are significant when dealing with 600+ rwhp.

Math proportions. ; )

I’m not surprised that forum folks have dyno’ed the NPP! Nor, am I surprised that there’s 6 mighty flywheel HP!!

I’m just surprised that Chevy never used it as a sales point like they did on the Vette when the dual mode came out a few years back.

BTW, Happy Canada Day! My wife is Canadian…….…you probably know her!

Although there were some small inconsistensies on his story, he definitely wrote a good piece.

Also noticed that the guy was able to shift that car like a pro.

Yes! He was very positive on the 1LE. That was cool!
