Radar Detector Poll

Just wondering what everyone here prefers for a quality detector and reasons why. I have a feeling I am gonna get more attention than I want from the local police especially since unmarked cars are a huge threat here.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3...but I have a V1 and love it. It's definitely saved my ass a many times. The arrows are a big plus.

My cousin has the V1 and he let me use it one weekend. I really liked it. It detected from one helluva distance. I am thinking about getting one too. I need it because I am down to 2 points and if I get another ticket they said I could lose my license.:(

From what I hear if the 50 are using laser and your detector goes off your cooked. Pointless... Pull over and get ready for a ticket. Most police these days use laser.

So D. Buy a CAI instead.

not totally true...probably depends on where you live. I've only been lazer'd once, luckily I wasn't speeding. Most cops around here use KA...the only only ones that seem to have laser are the state troopers...but usually they are just using KA as well because the laser gun is harder to use.

I hate going anywhere without my V1.

Escort 9500ix Passport

I think this is a great radar and laser detector with advance features like GPS technology and Safety Camera Database - pre-loaded with thousands of safety camera locations, including red light and fixed position speed cameras, located throughout North America which you can download updates and back up your data from your laptop and or pc..

I didn't vote because I think they are all a waste of money. CA uses mainly Laser and the false alarms down here are constant in the RF bands

Exactly

They are a waste of money in some areas. Though the GPS updates are very cool, but I think there is an Iphone app for that

Escort me

I've been using an Escort for about 7 years already and it has saved me from soooo many tickets. I'm sure this guy has saved me from enough tickets to pay for itself twice maybe three times. Love this detector.

Where I live the police never use laser so I have that switched off. Ka band is 99% a traffic officer. K band is about 75% a school bus (wtf right?) and x-band usually goes off in front of shopping centers like wal/k-mart and malls (security systems?) so that is off too.

Detectors are not a waste of money depending on where you live, Cali maybe yes (damn you laser!), but here its certainly not.

Relying to heavily on your detector alone will actually get you more tickets. I can take 3 ways to school/work and over time I've learned where most cops hide. This helps a ton.

Also watching people way ahead you helps even more - break lights going off.

I used to rely on my detector a lot but there was a time when I had to get it repaired (dropped it ><) so I had to drive around without it for a couple weeks.

You can easily speed and get away with it if you know what to look for. But I'd rather enjoy driving and not constantly being on the look out so I always have it on.

I'm getting an STi Driver. I live in MD, which is close to Va and DC; otherwise I probably would have gotten the escort.
