Question Ripshift or Hurst????

OK guys (and gals) what do you think should I go with the Ripshift
www.ripshift.com/rip_home.html or should I go with the tried and true Hurst
that Nick has offered us on the group buy? They are both the same price...actually the Ripshift is $349 and the Hurst $359. Just looking for your input! Thanks in advance.

Here is a question....looking at the RipShift install instructions it says you have to lower the trans. From what I remember the Hurst shifter didn't have to do that. Does anyone know if that is the case?

From what jpsuperman81 posted (again) today all you should have to do is loosen up the cross member a bit to make the install a bit easier....

This shifter is made for those customers who bought a camaro and decided not to order the O.E> Hurst shifter with the car. They are (2) entirely different shifters!. To be clear: The hold up on the O.E> version of the Hurst shifter was not their doing, it is due largely in part to the situation at GM, plus some running changes that GM and Hurst had mutually agreed upon to "spice" up the design aspect of the shifter..nothing more!.. A decision was made by GM to move the O.E. shifter from the "accessory" division to the "line installed" division so there has been delay in getting that moved over with all the issues currently going on. The Aftermarket version (shown here) can be installed without removing the trans, only loosening the cross member a little to get better access.. The O.E> version has a complete "casting" as requested by GM and it is believed at this point the trans will need to be dropped to install that particular unit..hence the reason it is to be installed "on the line" or "at the dealer level"...so, that's the story

That was posted by subzero in the install thread
