TPMS issues with aftermarket wheels/sensors

When I bolted my aftermarket winter wheels on, the car immediately displayed the correct pressure, so I know the sensors work.
Normal relearn procedure did not work.
Then after driving ten miles, warning light came on and display went to "--".
Saw dealer, they used smaller tool, did not work, then used larger diagnostic tool.
Shows sensors all work fine, car does not recognize the activation from the tool.
They hooked up OBD 2 machine, reset everything and it worked for about 1/2hr.
Then light came back on.
Did anybody else have this issue?

Sorry if this should be under technical issues thread?

Since you seem to be out of ideas, I just wonder if this would work, we found on the new Corvette , that there was a hidden manual TPMS calibration:

Yes, I had the same issue. I bought my wheels tires before anyone had any information, so it was all trial and error. The pre-programmed sensors that use the standard frequency (I believe it is listed as "315") did not work.

They had to contact their "sensor expert" who told them that these cars are using the european sensors and they'd need the generic programmable sensors. With the programmable sensors their scan tool was able to sync them up to the car no problem.

It took us some trial and error to figure out the whole programmable sensor thing, so I drove around with bad sensors for a bit. My car continued to display the numbers from my old wheels for a few stop/start cycles before they went blank, so I'm guessing those were the numbers you saw.

Wow the new relearn procedure sounds a lot better than having to let air out of the tires in a clockwise fashion. It's a little annoying because your tires are usually deflated to 20-25lbs before the car honks at you. Here's the copy/paste from link above.

1. start car - actual engine running - not the Acc mode
2. Select the tire pressure display in the DIC.
3. Press and hold the SEL button until the display changes and the horn beeps. It now says it's in learn mode.
4. Now drive just as it says in the manual - 10 min or so above 12 mph. - this is the new part - Chev says use a dealer tool - not necessary!
5. Suddenly, it will find all 4 sensors and show pressure
6. when you shut the car off , the "learn DIC" will show again and horn beeps.

I am having the same problem.....I got 18" Blizzaks and I paid FOR the sensors on the tires BUT my car is not reading the sensors. So, my tire pressure monitor warning light is on.

What should I do?

We'll see if that works.

Did you JUST by them from tire rack?

Yes, I just bought them.

Not sure what I should do at this point. I was going to take it back to the dealer to see if he can get it to work.

I never even bothered with TPMS on my winter tires. No big deal to me. You just get an idiot light on the dash for the tires and save $200!!

The reason why I wanted them is the tirepressure varies 5-6 PSI depending on temperature swings and we had +56F to -25F in past winters.
Makes for uneven wear. My past winter set could've lasted longer with proper inflation.
Beats checking them manually weekly in the cold.

I had the same issue. Had new sensors(for 2016 Camaro) put in my 2014 wheels. Problem solved
