TSP VVT-1 cam reliability

Before you say anything, yes, I have used the search tool..

That being said, I am posting this because I want an opinion on whether the VVT-1 cam is reliable enough to be put in my daily driver (2011 SS). Most of the posts I've found on the subject are older posts from like 2012. I wanted to hear from people who have used this cam in their L99 for a decent amount of time if there have been any issues. Also, is there an audible lope? How much power could I expect from this cam?

I have tsp vvt2 that I'll be removing in next couple of weeks. If it's anything like vvt1 you will be fine on the street with it. Going to try to post a video of my car but I have full bolt ons and head work.

I think the vvt-1 is actually more mild than the vvt-2. So it's good to hear there aren't any issues with yours

I do have a 3200 stall. If your looking for a power bump i made 431rwhp and I think 403 tq. Car sounds good though with a little lope. I've never seen or heard a vvt1 in person so not sure how much they compare

Well I really don't want to install a stall so I think if I HAD to install a stall for this cam, I'd just steer away and get LT's or something

Definitely stick with VVT1 then, doesn't require a stall.

When you hit 2, then that's when they start recommending a stall but apparently some people (not recommended) have gotten away with no stall on the VVt-2

That's good to hear. There's someone selling the cam and everything needed to install for 650 including shipping. I think this is a great price. Anyone else agree? Disagree?

I think it's a small cam for small gain. Are you removing AFM lifters and keeping vvt? Car buddy of mine had vvt1 from tsp and got spanked by my car that drives like stock around town from cms. I'm about 450 for hp and tq on a rough dyno...if your in SoCal talk to cms.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet. I'm not positive I'll be getting a cam at all. But this seemed like a great price for a cam and everything included so I figured why not. What have you done to your car?

In all honesty, if you are looking for a VVT cam then you need to go with a GPI cam. Proven time after time. Look at the fast NA list and who cam they are using.

I know there are better cams that'll give more power, but I'm thinking of going for this one mostly just because of the price. I don't have the biggest budget for this car so I just wanted something that could give me some power without breaking the bank

If doing vvt1 you want to change out the lifters. The afm lifters are junk.

$650 for, parts may look cheap but to do a l99 cam the right way the labor is what gets you.

I have a good friend who owns a reputable shop near me so I'm not too worried about labor. LS7 lifters are included in the 650

vvt1 vs vvt3:

Watch round 2 in towards the end. I think this is where we see low end torque with the smaller cam and lower speeds, vs higher peak HP on the larger cam at higher speeds.
