OEM Tunnel Brace
I saw posts regarding aftermarket parts, but didn't see anything regarding the OEM part(s).
Do the convertibles have an OEM tunnel brace like the coupes? If so, is the part identical?

My guess is it would be the same, here is a link to an aftermarket one that lists for all models

The verts have additional bracing like that compared to the coupes. Some interfere with mid-pipe upgrades to 3". Why do you ask?

The coupe and vert brace are identical. the vert has a second brace with 8 mounting holes further towards the front of the car. Any tunnel brace fits either chassis.

Nice stout piece. I wonder if you could feel the difference. Here's the ARH brace I considered in order to add their 3" midpipe but the hp/$ equation wasn't attractive. This "chromoly" tubing brace with multiple anchor points should be an improvement over the OE stamped steel.

It does what it is supposed to do, which is resist forces that would let the trans tunnel collapse in a side collision. You car has one stock, so i'm not sure what you are needing to know?

I guess the more direct question, is if there's something to be gained in handling by replacing it with a sturdier one?

Nothing that you will notice unless you are running race tires. I've tried several different designs on mine. The car doesn't flex in that direction, and the mount points are too lose together to stiffen anything other than the small section of trans tunnel.

But, the guy fabbing them is only asking $15 to cover his shipping cost. So.....
Given your interest, why not get one, try it out, and give us a review?
