Boot Cover - Tab broken

Just had one of the rubber tabs at the front of my factory boot cover break off. Luckily I found it in the well by the rear side window.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks
Grote

Hey Grote,
I haven't had that happen but I'm interested in this.
If you could post a pic I'd like to see where the piece broke off.

Boot Cover Tab Broken - additional

See pictures - (note I had added the sound mat to help reduce noise)
One picture shows tab the other shows with my repair.

More importantly:

I have changed the way I install and remove the cover. When installing I used to install the back of the cover before bending the front tab down and inserting. When removing I would pull up the front of the cover bending the tab. Once a tab broke I now put tab in before the back edge on installs and remove the back edge and slide the cover towards back so tab does not have to flex.

He means the plastic "tongue" (tabs) that protrude from the front ends of the tonneau cover which tuck under the plastic trim pieces next to the rear side windows which anchor the front of the tonneau to the car.

I'm always a bit concerned that I might break one of those tabs if I were in a rush to put the tonneau on or take it off.

How did the fix go? Does it hold well? Damn tonneau covers are expensive to replace!

Grote - if you are still under warranty have it replaced. I had the same thing happen and just got a brand new given to me

The repair is holding up well, as I had posted earlier by changing the way I install the cover there is less stress on this tab. I am pretty sure because of the sound mat I installed my warranty would be voided.

I just used mine this weekend for the first time. I really did not like how I had to bend those tabs to get it to slip underneath. Maybe I was installing it incorrectly??? Once it was on, it did seem very sturdy and would not fly off while driving.

That is how I have always installed mine, it puts practically no stress on the front tab when putting on or taking off.
