The spring perches on the axle are an issue as the multi-leaf are much deeper than the mono-leafs. I've seen where people have just used long bolts and/or left one or both of the rubber mounting pads out, but the only SAFE and correct way is to change the spring mounts on the axle to match the the height of the spring stack, or swap in a rear axle with multi-leaf perches.
On my car someone had put some three-leaf Nova springs on it, longer bolts and one spring pad omitted to cram them in perch. I replaced them with repop mono-leafs. The problem with them is they had so much arch and were so stiff if was almost impossible to install them and the rear rode too high. I took them off and had them de-arched at a local spring shop, took just over an inch out of them. My car is a big-block with posi and I've not had any issues due to the mono-leafs in the 11 or 12 years they've been on there. Last edited by MLL67RSSS; 05-31-2016 at 09:47 AM. |
