Los Angeles specific - who tints their driver/passenger windows, even though illegal?
I definitely want to tint but I guess it's illegal in LA to do front window tinting? Yet 1/2 the cars on the road have done tint, even really dark tint. Anyone in LA do it anyway and do you get hassled for it? Thanks.
I'm thinking that with my bright blue color, lack of a front plate, tinted windows & dark tail lights I guess I'm just setting myself up to be a ticket magnet, but I really want this car to look how I want it to look. Last time I had a car I played with I was 18 and it was a jeep. My '07 Honda Odyssey (daily driver) isn't exactly custom... I'd love to get my Camaro just right. ~ Coralyn

With that said, they can still site you for window tinting. No front license plate fee is $25 if you just want to pay it while illegal window tint fee is $200. So I can live with not having front plates since worse case scenario if I get a fixing ticket for it it's just $25. Most cars at car shows don't tint their windows and I love the look of not tinting the windows! |

I have mine tinted. Tint is a simple fixit ticket unless your a complete ass to a cop and they outline it isn't correctable on the ticket.
Make a friend with a officer and they will most likely sign it off for you. Most simply do not care, and most do not pull people over for this. I am rocking 15% all around.

If you get pulled over roll down ALL windows and put your hands on the wheel. Tint will be low on their list if you are a perfect citizen.

From what I understand, if a cop can see through your car even at night they won't bother you. That being said, I have 15% all the way around and I haven't had any problems.

I just had mine tinted last week, and I went with the darkest ceramic tint available. On a black car, the look is spot-on.
I was once upon a time in law enforcement. Generally, you would really have to piss off a city cop or deputy sheriff to earn yourself a ticket for JUST window tint. The only agency that might actually go out of their way to stop you for it is the CHP, and though it was once pretty common for them to write a lot of tint tickets, I don't hear about it happening as much in the last decade or so. Hope this helps. |
