Slower ET?

Yesterday I went to attempt to beat my PB of 12.89 @ 111 with a 2.1 60ft. DA was calculated to be in the mid 800 range that night. BUT that run I hot lapped the car and never had to sit in the staging lane. Ran went around and staged right back up.

Last night I ran three time. First run I got locked out of 3rd, had the clutch to the floor and I couldn't shift into 3rd so I ran a 13.6. Second run, I bogged the car hard at the light 2.5 60ft ran a 13.4. Last run was a 13.14 @ 109 with a 2.1 60ft. DA was about mid 200. Every run I had to sit in the staging lanes for at least 10 minutes. The lowest IAT I had at the tree was 107.

I'm trying to figure out why my car ran so much slower. I have a few new mods since I ran my 12.8, some being suspension mods and some engine mods. My new suspension mods include: Pfadt trailing arms, toe links and solid subframe bushings. My new engine mods include: Holley black heart shortie headers and an elite E2 catch can. In conjunction with those mods above I also have a Halltech CAI, Bo White PTB and SOLO high flow cats, MWG shifter on a stock tune.

Having my car run slower, what do you guys think? Was it the new mods making my car slower or was it a heat soak from sitting in the staging lanes so long?

Thanks for your input but I'm going twin turbo in the future so they really arnt a huge waste. Long tubes would be a huge waste for my build plans.

For NA they are a waste. Was no mention of FI in your post. But without posting times lips, weather, etc no way to tell

Jc615 said it perfectly. Being a manual car, there are so many factors that make up a 1/4 run. Did you shift the same? Was the prep the same? Headwind, tailwind? Humidity. All these play a factor in what you run not just DA. Without posting the slips, there is really nothing to analyze.

In my opinion, 10 min in the staging lanes is not a long time, I have been in lines much longer. To me 107 IAT is not that bad. In an NA car you don't really suffer that much since once you start moving your CAI starts pulling in cool air.

I threw away the new slips because I was pretty pissed. I don't drag race much because the closest track is an hour and a half away no matter what way I take. That's why I posted in this section so one of you guys could at least tell me something and for the most part you did. Thanks for the help, guess I just need to get back out there and save my slips next time.

Weather on my last run was 63 degrees, 65% humidity, not sure about wind. My PB run was 69 degrees, 90% humidity, again not sure about wind. All runs I shifted around redline. hopefully that helps a little. Also my 60fts between the two runs were .04 difference. the 13.14 being a slower 60ft. I felt as if the track was prepped much better this time around too.

It may be in the tune if you changed tuners or haven't tuned

This is a good point. The combination of the shorty headers with the high flow cats may have knocked the tune out a little. You may have removed a bit of backpressure with the headers.

Stock tune .

I've thought that though. Maybe too much is done and to really benefit is a tune which I don't want to do yet.

Op...for those guys saying that shorties are are need to look at Padres build thread.... when hooked up to hifow cats they make decent power...not quit as much as longtubes but still. Take the advice from guy s like padre who seen factual gains at the track...alot of info people post is from people that have never even done the mod.

I'd disagree. Unless you are in CA or going turbo there is no reason to select shorties over LT.

Theres more then California that has strict emissions. They dont have the same gains a longtubes but we
can argue on the internet all we want...Padre has shown facts that there is some gain with shorties...so diagreeing is fine but I go by the numbers not opinions. Im not saying they are better then longtubes ...just that there is proof that there is some gains.

We're in a circular argument. Sure there are gains, I'm only stating unless you have to get them they arnt worth it vs LTs I've never lived anywhere I've had to worry about emission requirements to know who else restricts LTs
