Dealer says I must use only GMPP

I spoke to my dealership about putting in a CAI and Exhaust and seeing if they would want to install it, they said if I put anything into the car thats not a GMPP it will void out the warranty. I know this can't be true, but how can I handle this? Any feedback would be approved.

Print of a copy of Moss Magnuson and make an appointment with the service manager.

Find another dealer.

My local dealer is installing a solo-performance exhaust next week. No impact to warranty unless the exhaust causes the wheels to fall off.

Depends on the Air Intake you plan on using. MMA only applies to replacemnt parts and certified (CARB or EPA) "specialty parts".

Ask them to put it in writing, and contact the CAI manufacturer. If they are a SEMA member, they can ask SEMA's legal staff to contact the dealership.

OR find another dealership that does aftermarket parts. They may only want to use a particular brand and do the install.

Maybe your original Exhaust warranty will be void but not all warranty stuff.

Find a good dealer.
I've already had warranty work done on my Camaro and its not stock , Me and the service manager agreed that a CAI and headers will not void the warranty, But if i do a tune that dos void the motor warranty on the car.

If you put a non GM part on the car, say a cold air intake and your engine goes
you are toast IF the dealer says sorry your warranty on the engine is void. Magnuson Moss will mean nothing. If you want to fight it fine, but it's all on you to prove it which will be expensive. Bottom line, if I change parts on my car and something goes wrong with related parts I do not expect GM to pay for it. Having said all that, I don't believe an exhaust or cold air intake would do anything to cause harm to your car. Tuning is a whole new ballgame and of course if you go into the engine your engine warranty would be void.

If I replace the cam and bend a pushrod...I'm not going to try for a warranty claim. Common sense prevails here...he was talking about a CAI and exhaust.

Now...if my AC stops working...I will expect it to be fixed under warranty. If a knock sensor goes bad...I will expect it replaced under warranty. IF I get a check engine light that indicates the knock sensor, but the knock sensor is NOT bad...I will expect to pay for the diagnostic time. Then I'll got bitch at my tuner.
