M6 to A8 conversion?

So let’s say I got a really good deal on an 8l90 and want to convert my M6 over. Take labor out of the equation because I can do all of it myself. I know I would need the pedals and interior stuff, tranny, converter, TCM. I also know the rear diff has different gearing but is the same otherwise. Is the crossmember different? Different driveshaft size? From the software side can I just switch everything over via HPT?

Any knowledge of this would be appreciated. And yes I know it’s probably cheaper to just trade it in and get an A8 car, but I love my car, and I don’t feel like pulling off the Procharger and other mods I’ve done this far.

Someone had mentioned that with the pcm and bcm it’s just the matter of changing things which can be done via hptuners which I have. This is the kind of information I’m looking for mostly though.

Sub'd...I think you may be the first to try this and I'm really curious how it turns out. I don't think it'll be as easy as you think though. You may find yourself in a situation where you need some parts that are not available due to production restrictions or whatever they call them. Good luck.

Don’t forget all the interior cahnges as well.

A TH400 with a gear vendors overdrive might be a better option.

I did actually think about this. Though I’d rather see a 4l80e being used if possible.

If you're going through all the trouble to do the swap, I'd wait and put in the A10.

Are you planning on regularly going to the drag strip? If not, the longer geared 6M combined with that blower should be superior on the highway.

That's why I'm watching this actually. There's no way in hell I'd want to attempt swapping in an automatic unless (especially the A8 or an early A10) unless I was going to build an all out drag strip car. I'm not saying they're bad but I think you're barking up the wrong tree if you're planning this for a DD with the expectation that it's going to be like a factory built car. I would guess that he's going to have to change out a lot of supporting parts to aftermarket to get this to work and you know how that goes. If any of the computer systems have to go, he's probably going to lose some of the other functionality in the car.
