Exhaust leaks

I installed headers over the weekend with stock exhaust. Anyways I have band clamps and the exhaust still leaks. One leak is at the collector and i was wondering if maybe there is a sweet spot it should be at. She it be close to the header flange or further away?

I got some exhaust tape from o'riley and wrapped it around the seam, then put the clamp over it. Completely stopped the leak. Fyi, I tried different clamps, adjusted them too... no luck, the tape and a ss band clamp solved it.

I was able to fix it. The clamps were assembled wrong out the package. After I assembled them right they tightened right up and no more leaks.

I have the speed engineering also... take the clamps off. Apply the tape. Install the clamps. Run the car long enough to heat it up good...short trip. Go back and tighten the clamps.... when there still hot.

I've been having this same issue for about a month now with the same Speed Engineering LT headers. I even bought these https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-692300-1 Unfortunately I still have the leak from Long tube header to the Catless Midpipes I bought from Speed Engineering on both sides. There seems to be no leak from the MidPipe to the factory exhaust, just from header to midpipe. I'll try the method you described.

How'd it go with the clamps? It seems mine keep loosening and the leak always manages to come back. I've also noticed it is now leaking from the mid-pipe to the factory exhaust. I re-used the stock clamp, everywhere I've read said that should be fine but now that's leaking too. Really debating take the headers off now, I can't stand driving around with all the whistling..
