It makes me sad...

I don't post a lot and I really don't want to be negative. I've owned many Camaros in my life and luckily have been able to hang onto my '68 SS396 since 1987 but I was really hoping to put something modernly wicked next to it in the garage.

Why does it feel like GM has allowed CAFE and current fuel prices to make our car into a flashy beauty pagent queen that looks great but has no talent? It sure didn't help the stock price today!

Cheryl Pilcher's responses on automobilemag bother me the most. Why if you resurrect the Camaro will there be no Z28?

Am I premature in my expectation to see a Z28 or ZL1 this soon? If what we saw today is all they have to offer, I'd rather they left the Camaro name dead and called it something else. Ford really has pulled off a solid starting with 2005 and hitting all the anniversaries working with Carrol Shelby.

I have been lucky enough to see a few test mules in person at the proving grounds in Arizona. Thanks to Punchy for that! They did look amazing in person. I'm still going to Indy. I hope that trip brings me back around...

How about the rest of you that aren't Cheryl Pilcher's "target Camaro buyer" that "maybe doesn't know Camaro from the past"? What are your thoughts?

I'm sorry you feel it's a pageant queen but I disagree we have not seen any real world performance out of these cars and stated numbers are groundless claims until actually proven by the customers. . .

and if you haven't read the threads about the Z28 then do so. no where has chevy really said it's never coming back or in production. it's possible still. . .

so hopefully you aren't so negative once you go to indy. but good luck and keep the faith.

I see it now. Thank you for that. So now I can just stew in the fact that I'm not their target buyer. I'll have to see if I can ask why that is while I'm at Indy.

I am no camaro fan, doesn't care much about camaro's history.

I wanted a nice looking car with a huge engine.

The car is beautiful but needs few changes to be awesome (like change these horrible lights that were set inside instead of outside of the headlights).

Looking at specs, camaro needs a supercharged Z28. Definitely. Otherwise, there will be nothing special about this car, and I will probably go take a look at the GT500 ...

And they should make a Z28 pretty fast ....

But I wonder ... if I make no mistake, we have seen pictures of a pre pro Z28 (the white one with the black hockey stick) ... Is chevy trying to mistake ford by telling them "don't worry, you'll stay alone on the GT5000 segment"?

seriously what a shame , is just the first opening for the camaro , wait a year for the superperformance models news , you want to eat the world in one single day damm whats wrong with you , as for the z28 come on during the 80s and 90s the z28 was just the v8 version we got the traditional corvette v8 in the camaro the only diference this time is that it is called ss instead of z28 if it is that important just stick some z28 logos ,

This is not 1969 ,american cars are not the world's best ,the market now got japanese and europeans , the oil is now at his peak production , and a black candidate is fighting for the presidency WTF?? dont be desesperate

Wow, some strong feelings about the Z28 name...and you all get mad at me for talking about weight, lol.

I have to say that it's in NO WAY a queen, and it has the right amount of power in both forms. (ENTER RANT ABOUT WEIGHT HERE)

Looks...let's not even discuss, that beast is so dang SEXY MEAN!!!!

I personally would love to see the G8 V8 in there as a middle of the road engine.

No one as really said that the Z will be coming back, there was alot of speculation. Cheryl was misquoted this coming from her on our telecon.

Look no one likes the current situation in our economy. This however has changed the auto mans. GM, Ford and the rest have to follow the trend, if not they'll be out of business.

As far as being a beauty queen with no talent, the current V-6 as 300+ hp. What did the v-6 have in the first gen? The V-8 car has 400+ hp. That revals most of the BB of the first gen.....So I don't understand how this car as no talent.

If you knew what GM is going thru as a company right now you would feel lucky to just have the Camaro coming back. CAFE and current fuel prices are what the auto man. HAVE to listen to.

Trust me this car has the talent.......

As someone who's only owned one Chevrolet vehicle in my life time and it just happens to be a Cavalier, the Camaro would be a huge upgrade so I'm sorry I can't really see your perspective but I don't think GM necessarily "lowered" themselves to CAFE. If anything they compromised.

My thought is this..........

300-hp in a V-6 is pretty impressive, JMO. Unless, one is going to enroll their vehicle into the stock car circuit, 400-hp V-8 is VERY impressive. It is a fact that we all love this car or we would not waste our time looking at these posts or sitting like whinos on a park bench for GM to release this car. You have to stop and think about a few things.......

1. The platform for this vehicle is remarkable (at now said production status). It has allowed for GM to keep most of the concept's virtuous looks and dimensions.

2. The look of this car is extremely popular. I have talked to Mustang enthusiasts and even some sassy women who all agree that this car is gorgeous. Hell, I showed my wife the pics of the production version, and she was impressed, and as much as my 3-year old and I(probably more me) rave about this car and drive her crazy talking about it. She was impressed, which means that more wives will be impressed, more women, young drivers, older drivers, PEOPLE PERIOD, are impressed by the job GM has done with this car. Which leads to my next point........

3. Aftermarket companies are salivating at the chance to exploit their products for this vehicle. Yes a lot of us want those parts to give our Camaros more power, prowess, pizzazz, etc. Do you think that these companies do not want a peice of the action? C'mon? I personally will let SLP and Jegs exploit me! JMO. So there may not be a Z-28 (which I dont see GM letting happen, JMO)? Do you think that should stop you from purchasing a piece of history. That is what Mustang, Dodge, hell Japanese car owners do. It is just that we will have a head start with the stock options.

Here's to good driving folx, see you on the mother road!
