Hi all, just was wondering if anybody has experienced brake fluid leaking from the reservoir. My dealer has replaced the cap twice and now I'm going to bring it back for a third time. Thye are going to have to replace the resevoir now I presume. My Camaro is 2SS/RS package

Do you have a M6 if so it will not be aball to fix it that way, It because the brake and Clutch are in one reservoir, You need to split the 2 and get a reservoir that can be closed.

I have a slight leak. Service mgr said it was overfilled so he took some fluid out. Looks ok-so far.

If you have a M6 car its the fact that the top is not air tight it will always leak.

Umm a master cylinder that leaks is not acceptable. There is a problem somewhere.

Can you guys please clarify leaking?

I ask because a vented cap will have a trace of fluid around it. That is not leaking. It is breathing. If you have a wet reservoir that would not be breathing. It would be leaking

Who has breathing residue?
Who has a wet bottle?

Can you post pictures so we can all compare wet bottles?

I have brake fluid around the edge of the reservoir below the cap so why have any residue awaywhere wether it's just breathing or not.

The brake fluid comes out of the vent more as a vapor than fluid. The vapor gets on the cap and leaves what I would refer to as a film. If you looked at my reservoir it would look like the top third had a bit of Armour All on it with a trace in the molding / tank seam. It isn't leaking. It is breathing.

The reason for the vent is expansion from cold to hot and contraction from hot to cold. That is why the system is not sealed.
