Hi-flow cats void warranty
Will hi-flow cats void my factory warranty? I'm in SC so I don't have to worry about any type of smog control. Thanks.

Some dealers would try and tell you it will void your warranty, others won't have a problem with it. If something goes wrong your dealer must be able to say the cats caused the problem. In reality the hi flow cats would not be the cause of anything major in my opinion.

The code it throws puts the engine lite on. They say that once you tune it that can be fixed. My local dealer said to me that it doesn't matter to him. Of course if your out on the road other dealers might have a different view.

Not sure what effect changing cat on THIS car will be... However, past experience with V6 and changing stock cats has left me a bit apprehensive on changing the stock cats... I think I'll let some other guys for first on this mod!

Catalytic converters contain no moving parts. The factory replacement cats simply allow the engine to run more efficiently by reducing back pressure by means of increased flow. Technically speaking, a cat converter should never fail; as long as they are not physically damaged and the air/fuel ratio remains correct. As for setting codes. On the newer vehicles with increasingly sensitive sensors and PCM's, hi-flow converters may set a "catalytic efficiency" code. This results because of the dramatic increase in exhaust flow. The rear O2 sensors are reporting the difference in exhaust readings after the cat. The PCM compares this to the reading of the sensors before the cat. if there is not enough of a difference, you get a code. We build all of our hi-flow converters with "O2 sensor chambers". They pull the sensor out of direct flow of the exhaust stream. This allows a difference in exhaust readings between the O2 sensors before and after the cat converters, hence, no codes.
I hope this helps.

Dan, just looked at your website, when do you think you'll have headers for the new G5 v6 Camaros?
