Goodyear Eagle F1 3r
I know this has been discussed many times and I’ve done some searches on here but I’d like some input before I plop down $1500 on a set of tires. I’m set on getting the ZL1 1LE tires from Tire Rack and have them heat cycled. My question is for anyone running these tires with 305 all around or 305 upfront and 325 rears ... will 325s look ridiculous on the rears or do they fill in that gap nicely? Any rubbing? Maybe some pictures could help me decide. I’m looking to track my Z this summer and as a newbie to the track can the 325 rears hinder my performance? Any other advice is appreciated because this is a big purchase that should last me for a couple of years of street driving with one or two track sessions.
Thank you Last edited by Palutz; 03-15-2019 at 07:18 PM. |

I'd confirm if running staggered diameters on the z/28 is going to upset PTM / ABS / etc... Car was not setup for staggered diameters like the zle

It won't throw codes. GM developed the car for a 325 rear and only went 305 when they found it was faster for the Nürburgring lap. (Hence the 11J front rim and 11.5J rear rim) |

It won't throw a code. The 3R are wider than the Trofeos (a 305 3R is nearly as wide as a 325 Trofeo.) The 325 3R is not much wider than the 305 3R. I have run both 305/305 trofeos, 305/325 trofeos, and 305/325 3R. The 3R are the ones to go with.

Also, there is no rubbing at all. No rolling of fender lips needed. Just mount/balance/install.

I wasn't referencing 'codes'. I'm referring to the wheel speed sensor calculations being off due the larger diameter tire on the rear v the front. Which the PTM ABS etc work off of. Braking and steering impacted, not idiot-lights on the instrument cluster being illuminated

I looked at the good year 3R myself, but I’m going with the hankook 305/30/19 RS4. Considering your new to track driving you may wanna look into them as well. They are very fast tires ( within .6 seconds of a R888R from my testing around a 1:40 lap time track) and wear fantastic. They will be better at street/ambient temps, better in the wet, probably easier to drive at the limit/learn on and deff easier on the wallet. I’d only suggest the Goodyear 3R or equal if your concerned with lap times and the car Is primary driven on track.

I went 3R - 305's all the way around and am very happy with them and they are a great value versus Trofeo's!
For combo tire there is no better option. |

Ok just my 2 cents . I have a second set of wheels that I run the Michelin N-spec 305 front 325 rear. the 325 has a 13 in sidewall width with a 12.8 in contact patch(tread) and mine are flush with my Fender Flares at the very top no poking.I run 28 psi. As far as idiot lights and sensors going off I don't have the relearn tool when I swap over to these tires and I've driven several hundred miles on them and the only thing that has happened was the (service tire monitor system) light comes on but it doesn't affect anything . i just cancel it out , though i wouldnt drive the life of the tire like this as it might affect the pcm eventually. weird thing though my brakes tend to squeak alot more with these tires on .Go figure. Anyway my point is if you ever do decide to run a 325 on the rear you'll be ok seeing how this N-spec tire is about the widest tread patch I've see available so far on tire rack . i can send pictures to show
